Make your staff feel valued and they will Innovate for you... Naturally!

Teambuilding.ie strongly suggests (now more than ever -  in these difficult times) your staff need to feel that they are truly valued. Do this and they WILL reward you.

If your staff feel that they are an asset and a respected team member, studies show that they are more likely to naturally come up with new and innovative ideas. This will obviously help your company weather the storm and turn this potential threat into an opportunity.

But how can I do this easily?

Well here are some very basic suggestions, with the compliments of Teambuilding.ie:

  1. Communicate with your staff regularly with (the good and bad) relevant news. And be honest with them.

  2. Listen to what they have to say and (more importantly) let your staff know that you are listening.

  3. Don't automatically dismiss any ideas your team come up with. It's easy to dismiss new thinking and not so easy to try to implement new ideas. An idea now could really be the next big thing for you.

  4. Ideally, you should really try to make time for an open innovation sessions where teams can openly brain storm and discuss new ideas, new ways of doing things. Do the basics from these sessions such as taking minutes of what was discussed, any ideas (good or bad) and follow up with clear, concise action points. No follow up will only make staff feel like it was a waste of time and de-motivate them.

  5. Invigorate them by taking them off site (even for a few hours) with Ireland Xtreme or Teambuilding.ie

  6. Ensure you give any good work or idea the recognition it deserves. Giving staff recognition makes them really feel valued amongst their peers. “Lack of recognition can also be attributed as alienation”. If people don't feel appreciated then they become totally de-motivated. Their productivity quickly declines and take the “why should I bother” attitude.
